ASIA SUNDAY: 12 May 2002

The CCA (Christian Conference of Asia) regional family of more than 100 national churches and councils in Asia, will again celebrate Asia Sunday on the Sunday before Pentecost. The occasion commemorates the founding of the East Asian Christian Conference (EACC, now CCA) on 24 May 1959 - in which several New Zealand churches were directly involved.

For the year 2002, Asia Sunday is on 12 May and the theme is "Timor Lorosa'e (East Timor): Hope for New Life." This material was developed in collaboration with the Igreja Protestante Timor Lorosa'e (IPTL), one of the new members of CCA.

For copies of the Service, write to:

The Presbyterian Foundation

The application form and information about this exciting venture will be out to all parishes by the beginning of May. In the meantime we invite you to think about creative proposals for mission outreach for your community. We suggest you start planning with your session/parish council about what would be a useful way of spending money to enhance the church's presence in the wider community.
