Safety and Protection

SAFETY AND PROTECTION of anyone who is vulnerable should be the concern of every parish and presbytery. Every presbytery is encouraged to arrange for a workshop on Safety and Protection issues to be held in their area this year. This is endorsed by the Council of Assembly on the recommendation of the Equipping the Leadership policy group.

Mary Petersen (National Co-ordinator of Ministry with Children and Families for the Presbyterian Church of Aotearoa New Zealand) has developed an appropriate workshop with accompanying resources and guidelines. Mary will be offering to provide this throughout New Zealand, or to resource others to do so. Please contact mjpetersen(at)xtra.co.nz for further details.

Conference for Children and Families Workers

Mary Petersen is also arranging a conference for those working with children and families. See the Noticeboard section for further information. Further information will also be in future editions of Bush Telegraph.

Equip5000 News Update

Help! I am down to preach on Sunday! What do I do?

This is a very handy 'dummies guide' to preparing a sermon. It has been prepared by John Roxborogh of the Lay and Recognised Ministry Unit at the School of Ministry. It is linked to some very useful web resources for worship leading and preaching.

You can find it and many other goodies on our Equip5000 pages on the website.

New Options in Local Ministry

Assembly last year opened up some exciting new models of ministry that may involve lay leaders in new ways, and also open options for ordination as a minister of word and sacrament within a specific local context. The changes are outlined and guidelines for congregations are now available.

Either contact a Mission Resource Team member or have a look on Local Ministry section of the MRT part of the website.

New Preaching and Worship Packs for Lent to Pentecost

Have you seen the latest preaching and worship kits for this part of the year. New material for those who are leading worship and/or preaching.

Samples can be found on the Ministry Resources page on the website.

The full kit can be ordered from Resources, PO Box 9049, Wellington, or email:assemblyoffice(at)presbyterian.org.nz
