Introduction Workgroup

Thank you to Boards of Nomination that have supplied Profiles to the Introductions Workgroup. By the time you read this Boards that have not been linked with an Ordinand should have received their Profiles back.
We still need Profiles from Boards who are looking for a Minister.  Some preferences indicated by Ordinands that you might find helpful in deciding whether to offer a Profile are:

suburban/city/large town by location;
evangelical/charismatic by theology.

Operation Jericho - Prison Fellowship of New Zealand

"The mission of Operation Jericho (OJ) is to encourage, train and support local churches in building their capacity to more effectively minister to Christian prisoners, ex-prisoners, and their families.  Our primary goal is to unite those returning from the prison church with a local church in the community and  assist the inmate to make a successful transition back into society.

Operation Jericho will provide re-integrative services for inmates released from the new Faith Based Unit, Rimutaka Prison, Upper Hutt.
YOU CAN HELP!

(Please note that for the first two years Operation Jericho will operate in the wider Wellington area, including Kapiti and the Wairarapa)

The power of the Gospel - shared through the living witness of committed Christians - will transform criminals and change society for the better. Men and women of God who share their faith, their time, and their talents with prisoners today will help to restore peace and security to our communities tomorrow.

Operation Jericho offers you and your Church the following range of opportunities:

Mentoring; facilitating small groups; tutoring; providing employment after release; assisting with administration; partnering in prayer; working with offenders' families; offering financial support

Special Scriptures for Rugby World Cup

Bible Society has produced two Scriptures especially for participants and visitors to the Rugby World Cup which kicks off in Sydney on October 10.
The first is an edition of the New Testament - "Beyond the Try-line" - which uses the popular Contemporary English Version (CEV) translation and also features stories (and photos) of the Christian walk-of-faith of such notable previous World Cup winning players as Michael Jones (New Zealand) and Nick Farr-Jones (Australia). Others whose testimonies are included are Jason Robinson (England), Andre Vos (South Africa) and Inga Tuigamala (Samoa).

Beyond the Try-line also explains what the New Testament is and how to get the most from reading it including a section titled How to Become a Follower of Jesus.

The second Scripture is the Gospel of Mark. It is also in the CEV and features the testimonies of rugby 'greats'. And it deals with issues such as God and You, How to Become a Christian, and What next?, all of which provide positive, helpful information for people wanting to know more about the Christian faith.

Limited copies of the New Testament only will be available in New Zealand.
