An example of contemporary worship from Wadestown Presbyterian Church, WellingtonRenovate My Life (17 March 2002)MeditationTake the block of wood you have And imagine for a moment that your life is located in what you have within your hands
Your life Work, achievements and conflicts, deadlines and rewards, managing change and satisfying customers, Home life, shopping and repairs, garden and mortgage, sleep and meals, Leisure, TV and keeping fit, nights out and friends in, options only dreamed about Family responsibilities, keeping in touch,
Imagine your life is located in that block of wood The sides of your life, feel them The breadth of your life is contained between them From end to end, And the corners, Important choices that determine how you life is turning out
Feel the solid quantity that is your life Not something light or of little substance Your life matters, matters to God, matters to you Each day matters
Your life, today, tomorrow, yesterday What kind of shape is it in?
And what changes to living are you searching for, yearning for, hoping for.
Maybe there is variations on the current shape And this shaping is to come, What would the changes be Think of one Are they at work, at home, at leisure, relationships?
Maybe it's the texture of your life you desire changing Rough, smooth, brittle, pocked, riveted, coarse, abrasive Some important situations you are in have to change Which ones.
Maybe it's the alignment of the wood that seems at cross purposes with where you feel you should be heading Life is too against the grain What re-alignments are you looking for.
You don't have to do this alone There is a master crafter whose hands have shaped life before Trust his hands to work life into yours
