Pacific Islanders' Synod "thinking ahead"
Avondale was the centre of activity for New Zealand Presbyterians with Pacific heritage as the Pacific Islanders’ Synod of our Church gathered in Auckland for its annual conference.
On 16-17 September, around 200 people from around New Zealand attended the seventh annual get together, which had the theme of "thinking ahead". The purpose of the gathering was to discuss issues and opportunities facing the Synod, congregations, and New Zealand’s Pacific Island communities and to look at the focus of the Synod for the coming year.
Highlights from the programme include guest speaker Ron Viviani, workshops to discuss issues specific to each ethnic group and the opening and closing services.
Check out the next issue of sPanz for more information about the conference, and in the meantime here are some snapshots from the gathering. Click on each photo to see a larger version.
