General Assembly Worship
We would like to use some indigenous songs during worship sessions at General Assembly this year. You may use songs for worship that are written by members of your congregation. If so, we would like the chance to be able to use them at Assembly. Please send in the words, chords/music, and a simple recording of it to:

Are you up for it? A challenge to youth groups
New Zealand Hip Hop artist, Feleti Strickson-Pua of Nesian Mystik, is encouraging young people to Wipe Out Poverty by supporting Christian World Service's (CWS) annual youth action week.
Feleti thinks what CWS is doing is "great" and is asking young people to "get out and get involved" by signing up for Wipe Out Poverty Week. Mo Mansil, National Youth Coordinator of the Presbyterian Church of Aotearoa New Zealand says "in youth ministry, there's much talk about making a difference in a broken world. CWS Wipe Out Poverty Week challenges us to get out and do something about it". Will you?
Wipe Out Poverty week, 6-12 September, is an opportunity for youth groups, schools, families and young people to fundraise in support of communities around the world working to end poverty and injustice. As well as the traditional clean ups and car washes of previous years, this year CWS offers ideas on joining in at home or at school, running an all night event, selling fair trade goods from Trade Aid (who are also supporting Wipe Out Poverty week) and encouraging youth groups to serve fundraising breakfasts for their church community.

8 August 2004 is Media Prayer Day
We in CBA are inviting churches throughout New Zealand to pray for the spread of the Jesus News through the media.
The mass media has become our mission field in ways never dreamed of.
On 8 August, all New Zealand Christians have a unique opportunity to join together in prayer for their fellow-Christians in TV, radio, film, electronic media and print.
When we ran the first Day of Prayer two years ago we had three focal points:
<typolist type="1">
Christians working in the media
Personalities in areas of influence
Gatekeepers who enable doors to open for media opportunities.
</typolist>
This time we suggest two focal points for prayer:
<typolist type="1">
Vision to find opportunities to present the Christian way.
The willingness of those with media involvement to use their skills to implement the ideas.
</typolist>
In our agnostic society it may need to be a very gentle pointing of the Way that offers a solution in a world of conflict and division.
Simply, we'd like to ask churches to take a few minutes of their Sunday service on 8 August to pray for the Christian message to be communicated through New Zealand's mass media.
For more information and to order special resources designed specifically for churches to use on the day, please visit our website: www.mediaprayerday.org.nz or ph: 09 526 1505
