Water Buffalo

NZ$800 for a pair of she buffalo's

Water Buffalo are used to plough the paddy fields and to pull carts.  The Myanmarese value she-buffalo greatly.  A yoked pair can:

  • Plough paddy fields
  • Plough 3 acres of land in 2 months
  • Haul a cart with a 1/3 ton load 6 miles in a day

They are easy to look after and a she-buffalo will produce one calf a year which matures in 3 years.  Owning two buffalo and a cart is like having a ute in NZ.

Community chicken farm

NZ$1000 will purchase 500 chickens as well as food and medicine for a year.
