Update your contact details!

Early in the New Year parishes and ministers will be formally asked to update their contact details for inclusion in the 2005 Yearbook. In the meantime, you are encouraged to keep Hazel Smith (hazels(at)pcanz.org.nz) at Assembly Office up to date with any changes to physical address, parish contact person, phone numbers or e-mail addresses.

E-mail addresses for parish and presbytery/union district council contact persons are also important. These are not published in the Yearbook, but are used by Assembly Office to send out useful information such as news from Council of Assembly. If your parish, presbytery or union district council does not have an e-mail address logged with Assembly Office, please contact Hazel to update your details.

Safety and Protection Resources

General Assembly decided it would be mandatory for every parish to develop a Safety and Protection Policy in relation to their children and young people.

Mary Peterson, Children and Young Families Co-ordinator, has facilitated workshops on safety and protection issues with several presbyteries around the country and is available to provide advice or lead further workshops until December 2004. From January 2005 onward, there will be a list of contact people on the website (or available from Assembly Office in hard copy) of people around the country who may be able to provide advice or lead similar workshops.

For further information, please contact Mary by e-mail on mjpetersen(at)xtra.co.nz. Please note Mary's role as Children and Young Families Co-ordinator was for a fixed period, which ends in January 2005. Accordingly, Mary is available to provide advice as a PCANZ employee only to the end of this year, but would be willing to help parishes beyond that time if any expenses were paid.
