National Mission Enabler


John’s primary responsibilities as National Mission Enabler are the promotion of mission throughout New Zealand. This is done through developing shared direction, and the provision of mission and leadership advice. John works mostly with presbyteries and union district councils.

Some of his goals are:

  • To help the Presbyterian Church of NZ more than ever believe and discover that mission is possible
  • To identify, mentor and support key regional and local mission leaders
  • To seed, facilitate and nurture initiatives, to identify and release resources, and to connect leaders with opportunities to build mission
  • To promote good mission practice across the regions and in the various parts of the wider Church
  • To champion and publicise successes in congregational mission and leadership
  • To work with presbyteries to focus on Wellness in ministry

John brings his diverse background and mix of gifts to the role of National Mission Enabler.    As well as serving and leading in the Church, he has been prominent in business, community and sport.   His varied and wide experience has been of great benefit in resourcing mission, developing leadership and enabling healthy congregations, as well as in pastoral ministry, leading change and pioneering new projects.
