Kids Friendly training and coaching

Kids Friendly Coaching

The Kids Friendly Coach offers 2-hour coaching sessions with churches' ministry teams to introduce Kids Friendly and start the self review process.

One on one coaching and supervision is also available for children's ministry workers to explore a range of topics and offer advice and resources to help churches meet the kids friendly ideals.

For more information or to discuss ideas or needs, contact Kids Friendly Jill Kayser on 09-5850959 or kidsfriendlyjill(at)sthelierschurch.org.nz

Training Workshops

The Kids Friendly Coach can provide training workshops on a number of Kids Friendly topics for your church or Presbytery (travel costs need to be sponsored by host churches or Presbytery). Possible training topics include:

Responding to God’s Call for Child Inclusive Worship

This workshop explores why children should be included in some all age worship and introduces creative ways to engage, involve and value children in worship.

A Kids Friendly Sunday

This workshop explores how Kids Friendly churches welcome children, engage and involve children in all age worship (for or part of the service) and provide a Kids Friendly Sunday School.

Reaching Out, Welcoming In

This workshop explores why “We”, God’s church, should reach out to children and families in our communities and introduces some ideas and opportunities for effective outreach. A response to Jesus’ call to “Go” into our communities and serve.

Partnering with parents

“Parents are the primary faith teachers, mentor and role models for their own children with church as reinforcement – not replacement – of the parent’s duties.” (Faith Inkubators). This workshop explores how we, “the church” can:

  • Transform parents’ beliefs about their role as spiritual nurturer
  • Facilitate parents to teach and practise the faith in their homes
  • Provide supportive, inclusive and inspirational worship in our churches

Faith@Home

This workshop is for parents to explore ways to share the faith with their children at home and empower and equip them to be the prime spiritual nurturers.

Tell us another one

This workshop explores the power of storytelling and creative ways to share the good news of Jesus with children.

Planning your Children’s Ministry Year

This workshop explores why we minister to children, what is children’s ministry and how do we develop a strategic plan for our children’s ministry.

Creative Teaching Skills

This workshop explores creative and engaging ways to teach children including sharing scripture through storytelling and puppetry, learning memory verses, praying with children..

Upcoming children’s ministry training:

Rich Melheim of Faith Inkubators comes to Auckland

The gift conference

Friday August 8 and Saturday August 9, St Columba Presbyterian Church, Botany Downs, Auckland

Rich Melheim founder of Faith Inkubators will enthral and equip us as he shares his philosophies, experience, talents and resources for sharing our faith with children and youth in creative and life changing ways.  This is a conference for key ministry leaders (not just children’s ministry)

If you’re looking for better ways to….

  • Teach and engage children and young people in the life of the church
  • Get parents and caregivers involved in ministry with their own children
  • Bring the generations together in learning, life and worship

Then this conference is for you.

Rich describes his presentation style as 1/3rd stand-up comedy, 1/6th brain science, 2/9th systems theory, 1/4 pithy, practical, applicable and directly to the point.  He promises to make you laugh, cry and think. I can vouch for that.  I attended a Lutheran workshop with him in 2006. It was life-changing and I am still thinking.  What I learnt has hugely influenced the way I present and teach.  So book your early cheap flights now and make this your training priority for the year. You can read more about Rich Melheim  On www.faithink.com.
