New Appointment

- Rev Dr Margaret Mayman
The newly appointed convenor of the ECOSOC committee is the Rev Dr Margaret Mayman, newly appointed minister at St Andrew's on the Terrace in Wellington. Dr Mayman has a strong interest in women's issues and believes attending a meeting of the Commission on the Status of Women at the UN in March so early in her tenure as convenor will be extremely helpful in coming to grips with the workings of the UN and the special consultative status. While it will be something of a steep learning curve, Dr Mayman, who lived in New York City for 12 years, is looking forward to it. The commission's meeting last year focused on women and AIDS and the situation of girl children. She says her greatest challenge in the role will be in communicating the work of the ECOSOC committee and the APW to people.
For information about APW's United Nations connection please contact Dr Mayman, St Andrews on the Terrace, 30 The Terrace, PO Box 5203, Wellington.
