St Thomas’ School celebrates growth
Doreen came to India with the vision to see every child happy and loved. To fulfil her dream, she laid the foundation of St Thomas’ school with the motto “By Love Serve One Another” and the school has been true to its motto.
The school started with five students and has gone from strength to strength, with 2000 students at the moment. We have 102 staff members, including administrative and office staff. Sixty-three members of staff are Christians.
It is amazing to see three-year-olds and 18-year-olds study in the same campus, helping each other and interacting together. This helps them learn respect for each other. The senior students care for the little ones.
The school is very popular in the town and surrounding areas because of its good discipline and good results. Many students become doctors, engineers, nurses and paramedical professionals.
Wholehearted efforts are made to build up the Christian community. The Christian students are given fee concessions, free books and even scholarships. Many Christian old students are given employment in the school.
The school is considered unique in the area because of the individual attention given to the students; a loving touch, a listening ear and a caring heart for tapping and nurturing the talents of the students for academic and non academic areas.
I would like to express my gratitude to the New Zealand Church and all its organisations, especially the Friends of Jagadhri for continuous prayerful financial support.
We are thankful to God for showering blessings on our school.
