cheque given to the Stroke Foundation

Through the hard work of the Association of Presbyterian Women around the country amount of the cheque given to the Stroke Foundation was $29,640.63 Mark Vivian (Stroke Foundation CEO) and Lafulafu Vanila Ekenasio, hold some of the thousands of fridge magnets made possible by the generosity of the Association of Presbyterian Women.

It is a fact that if all stroke risk reduction strategies were taken in the community, the incidence of stroke would be at least halved nationally. The magnets, and other stroke awareness raising materials and strategies, are all part of the Stroke Foundation's goal of reducing stroke risk and improving outcomes.

According to Mark Vivian "We acknowledge the creativity, hard work and generosity of the APW in bringing us such a tremendous financial gift to further our work. The generosity of the APW is a potent reminder that our goals of Stroke reduction will only happen through the goodwill and support of people at a grass roots level throughout New Zealand. We thank everyone who made this gift possible."

cheers, Martin
