Top 10 - Helen Moananu

Top 10 is a regular column by Mary-Jane Konings where guests pick their favourites in entertainment, media and leisure activities.

Helen Moananu is the passionate and very talented vocal director at Vision Leadership College, an Inter-denominational Bible College based in Hamilton. She says the best thing about VLC is that musicians, singers and songwriters can study music at tertiary level in a "JESUS" environment. Helen has strong links still to her home church, PIPC Newtown, on the corner of Daniel and Constable streets in the fabulous city of Wellington. Here are her top ten picks for leisure and entertainment.

MJ: What is your all time favourite way to relax and chill out?

Helen: I enjoy being with my family and friends from church. Eating and 'catching up' is always relaxing. Listening to good music, and writing music is great time out for me.

MJ: What was your best holiday ever?

Helen: Samoa is the only place I escape to and I have enjoyed all my travels to Samoa!

MJ: Read any good books lately?

Helen: 'How to claim the Abrahamic Covenant' by Jay Snell great book!!!!

MJ: Are you listening to someone special at the moment?

Helen: I am listening to the St Anne's Catholic Choir from Newtown. Our Aufaipese (Samoan Church choir) have just finished recording and I am still fresh into listening to different choirs and choral arrangements for inspiration.

MJ: Has the explosion of multi-media gadgets influenced the way you spend your leisure time?

Helen: Listening to music is so much easier. But I have to say that the internet buzz is the greatest! Talking to family and friends locally and from all over the globe is now at my finger tips! No more waiting at the letterbox...

MJ: Do you have a fav website?

Helen: Our Sunday School website! Evan has done a great job updating it - malo lava bro! CHECK IT OUT!!!!!

MJ: Are you a gym bunny or a couch potato?

Helen: Before I answer that question, let me apologise to all four brothers who are fitness men... and one is a fitness consultant - SORRY Fili, Toto, Luni and Palauni... but your sister's a couch potato!

MJ: Where is your fav place to eat?

Helen: My mother's kitchen - eat all you want at no cost!

MJ: What are the yearly rituals you love to be a part of?

Helen: White Sunday, Sunday School Anniversary, and family reunions! I love it the kids at church are precious!

MJ: What brings beauty into your life?

Helen: God. I have so much in my life, and more is to come simply because I know God provides and that He lives in the heart of my family, my church, work, friends and everything I possibly can do! That's beautiful! Yes, I do have those crazy days, but God has overcome and because He said "it is finished" I have the promise to go through those crazy days because He's been there, done that and I have nothing else to worry about!
