Here are some new training opportunities:

University of Otago - Theology Study Options

The Department of Theology and Religious Studies, University of Otago provides a variety of options for people who want to study theology: on campus, off-campus through our Distance Learning Programme, or a mix of the two methods. You can also study full-time or part-time. You can study for a Bachelor of Theology, or for a Diploma or Certificate in Theological Studies. We also offer postgraduate study by distance.

School of Theology at the University of Auckland

"In 2003, the University of Auckland established a School of Theology within the university to provide its range of degrees in Theology.  The School replaces the Auckland Consortium for Theological Education which through its partnership with the University of Auckland taught theology in the university from 1990 to 2002"

The Ecumenical Institute of Distance Theological Studies


EIDTS offers the following qualifications:

The papers are all Licentiate in Theology papers.

Stand Alone Certificate    A single paper chosen from the Licentiate in Theology papers

Ministry Certificate    4 papers in any one area
This Ministry Certificate enables a student to specialise in any one or more of five different fields:

Preaching; Pastoral Ministry; Rural Ministry; Church in Context; New Testament Studies.

Associate Diploma    8 papers in any one area
An Associate Diploma allows a student to specialise in one or more subject areas of choice.

Biblical Studies; Church in History and Context; Theological Studies; Ministry and Mission Studies; Women's Theological Studies

Licentiate in Theology    15 papers over 5 subject areas
Hebrew Scriptures; New Testament; Church in History and Context; Theological Studies; Ministry and Mission.

Each paper has a Study Guide, a unit outline, a set of readings, sometimes an audio tape, a study skills booklet and a tutor.

EFM - Education for Ministry

EFM is a programme designed to assist adults to exercise their own ministry,
EFM successfully integrates the Bible with life.
EFM is a Bible study programme conducted in small groups in the local area under the guidance of trained EFM mentor (leader).
EFM is a four year programme which combines contemporary Biblical scholarship with structured group theological reflection.
EFM is administered in New Zealand by an ecumenical board and is used by people from various denominations.
