Year B Mark
These preaching ideas or sermon starters are based on the 2002/2003 Revised Common Lectionary which is being used in many churches in Australia and New Zealand.
This series was written by a variety of writers who cover the full year. Writers of considerable experience and variety agreed to write notes including: the Revs Edwin Clarke (Palmerston North), Martin Baker (Auckland), Gloria Zanders (Blenheim), Graham Millar (Wellington), Rev. Dr John Franklin (Palmerston North), Rev. Dr Harry Swadling (Wellington), Revs Alan Judge (Maniototo) and Warren Deason (North Shore).
Over the last few years these notes have been of particular value for:
- preachers - both ordained and lay preachers
- parishes without a stipendiary minister
- as study material for groups
- as material for a team preparing for worship to spark ideas
The periods covered are:
Kit 1: 1 December - 5 January (Advent 1 – Christmas 2)
Kit 2: 6 January – 2 March (Epiphany to Epiphany 8)
Kit 3: 5 March 20 April (Ash Wednesday – Easter Day)
Kit 4: 27 April – 1 June (Easter 2 Easter 7)
Kit 5: 8 June 20 July (Day of Pentecost Pentecost 6)
Kit 6: 27 July 7 September (Pentecost 7 Pentecost 13)
Kit 7: 14 September – 19 October (Pentecost 14 – Pentecost 19)
Kit 8: 26 October – 23 November (Pentecost 20 – Last Sunday After Pentecost)
These ideas are beginnings, suggestions for the preparation of worship and should be adapted for your own parish's needs. The views expressed are those of the author and not necessarily the Presbyterian Church of Aotearoa New Zealand. Please respect our copyright.
