Land and Faith Inspire CD
A strong kinship with the land inspires much of singer Natalie Yule Yeoman's work, as she readily admits.
The Mosgiel artist, whose fourth album, Cloud and Fire, has just been released, says her life's journey has taken her all over the country and this is recognised in her music.
"The beautiful New Zealand scenery the length and breadth of the land has influenced my spirituality," she says.
Natalie says her faith heritage also shapes her creative approach.
"My grandfathers and my father were ministers so my Presbyterian heritage is a big part of who I am."
Natalie's repertoire has included folk and protest songs, musical productions and songs for worship and children. She currently teaches music at Mosgiel Intermediate, where students also sing her songs.
Her latest 13-track CD and book of its music was jointly funded by the Otago-Southland Synod and Natalie's home parish Mosgiel-North Taieri Presbyterian Church. Christians throughout Otago and Southland have received copies.
She says the CD tries to provide a "user-friendly" format for those wanting to use the songs, and bring hope and encouragement to listeners.
"It's not simply a resource, it's intended to be a good listening experience."
