Come and Connect with the National Team
How you can connect with the National team
Last month you should have received a flyer about Connect 2002 which is a weekend for youth workers and leaders in the Presbyterian church - particularly those aged between 17 and 35. the two fold purpose of the weekend is to connect with each other and build relationships, and to be encouraged, empowered and stimulated in our ministry to young people.
The theme for the weekend is TEAM. We'll be exploring the questions 'If youth ministry is your sport then how do you play the game?' Are you fit for your position? Do you practice regularly? Are you in training? Are you a team player? Who is on your team? Are you looking for team mates?
We'll be having input from NZ sports players including Mark Ranby (Rugby) and Linda Vagana (Netball) and Ignite Sport - Youth For Christ Sports based ministries. If you're not the active type, don't worry, there's heaps planned to fuel your dreaming in your ministry. Money should not be the reason why you don't come. Get your church to sponsor you or in special cases contact us. For more info contact Mo.
Presbytality
Got young people going to study in a new city next year?
One of the times when our young people dip out on God is when they finish school and move to a new place. Finding a new church often gets pushed down the priority list as other things become more exciting. Alternatively, many students find themselves lonely, isolated and overwhelmed. One of the perks of being Christian is that members of the tribe are everywhere. What better way to show your Christian tribal colours than by showing some hospitality to our young people as they leap into a big new chapter in a big new place in their lives.
Presbytality is about connecting across cities, linking young people up with youth workers/leaders they can relate to and offering them the opportunity to link up with a church if they want to. Mostly though, it's just about offering hospitality. Getting youth workers to take people out for a coffee and be someone they can catch up with in a new city.
Interested? Next term we'll let you know how to be involved.
