‘Mentoring is about an intentional relationship, a dynamic, one to one interaction that encourages, inspires and enables…’ - Chris and Mary-Jane Konings
When it comes to connecting one on one with young people, the mentoring model provides some good guidelines of how we might build relationships effectively. Mentoring is something you can actively do yourself with your young people, but also an excellent way to get older people to be involved in youth ministry at your church.

<typohead type=3>Penguin’s Guide to Mentoring</typohead>
Some of you will be familiar with the cool little booklet in this mailout that Chris and Mary-Jane Konings put together a couple of years ago. One of the great things about this book is its size – The Penguin’s Guide to Mentoring puts Christian mentoring in a nutshell. It's ideal to give youth leaders or congregation members that you’re trying to encourage to be mentors, because they can read it in one sitting. It also gives some ideas at the back for further reading (and movie viewing) if you want to explore mentoring in more depth. Copies are available for $2 each or 10 for $15.
