Rev. William Mawson joined the Canton Villages Mission as an Evangelist in 1903.  He married Miss S. Margaretta Gordon on 1st Oct. 1903.  In 1923 Rev. Mawson returned to New Zealand and took over the New Zealand Chinese Mission in Auckland (refer seperate file).

Included in this file is : copies of personal and official letters and correspondence, letter re marriage to Miss SM Gordon and arrangements (1903); description of funeral of Dr. J. Ings (1906); description of dedication of the Morrison Hostel of the Union Theological College at Canton (1923); "The Canton Military Struggle" (c. 1923);
