Reflecting on the whole Easter story, including the cruel and violent parts, is central to our and our children’s faith. Children can and do respond to traditional Lenten spiritual disciplines in meaningful ways. Kids Friendly has a range of resources to help you minister to children and families during Lent.

Sharing faith at home this Easter
The Lenten period offers a wonderful opportunity for families to spend time together around God’s word. Kids Friendly has developed a new series of fun, interactive Family Devotions for 2012, to encourage families to share their faith at home in a meaningful way as they journey towards Easter. Each week families are asked to set aside one night to: “Share” an activity, “Read” the bible, “Talk” about God, “Pray” for God’s help and for others, and “Bless” one another.
Designed to complement the daily meditations in Prescare’s Reflections for Lent 2012 booklet, the Kids Friendly Family Devotions can be found printed within the Reflections for Lent booklet. To order booklets contact: office@presbyterian.org.nz or download a PDF version from : www.presbyterian.org.nz/prescare
Families Lent Calendar is a resource to copy (preferably in A3 colour) and give to families to help them share the Lenten journey with their children. It is full of interesting facts, fun and faith activities and ideas.
Faith Box
The Easter editions of Faith Box sessions, are now available as downloads from www.faith4families.org (go to shop and look for EASTER EDITION downloads).
Leading up to Easter consists of 4 sessions highlighting the signs Jesus gave through miracles about who he really is. It aims to teach children to learn to use their spiritual eyes and to practise discernment in their everyday lives between what is important, and what is merely superficial.
Making Easter special at your place facilitates family worship and sharing over the Easter holiday period. These 4 sessions cover Jesus’ death, resurrection, the disciples hiding and the road to Emmaus.
The downloads are $12 each. Volume 1 of the Faith Books series can also still be ordered from the website for $20. This manual has 12 great family times leading up to Easter covering Jesus’ death, resurrection, ascension and Pentecost.

Many of you have asked for resources to help you express your Kids Friendly ethos in your church facilities. Thanks to Presbyterian Savings & Development Society we have been able to design and produce 6 A2 colour posters that capture the heart of Kids Friendly. They are available for purchase at a hugely subsidised rate of $25 for 6 posters including postage. You can view the posters and order them.
There are now over 30 Kids Friendly resources written to help churches minister to children and families. Many have been written in response to your requests and with your help. We welcome your feedback, suggestions and contributions. Individual resources can also be ordered by emailing jill@kidsfriendly.org.nz or network members can download them (see resources log-in)
