Spring 2013

The spring edition of Spanz magazine explores how the Church is encouraging its young leaders in sustainable youth ministry. Two-and-a-half years on from the Canterbury earthquakes, we examine how Christchurch congregations are facing the future with both wariness and a renewed sense of purpose.  We share stories from churches passionate about ministry with children and families in their communities including the Whakatane Presbyterian Church, and the Children’s Carehouse in Paeroa; and Jill Kayser, national Kids Friendly coach, reflects on 10 years of ministry with children and families. We celebrate the journey of five churches in Rotorua united in mission. We hear how PIPC Newtown has prepared for the worst by giving their best to their community. We discover how the Synod of Otago and Southland’s small staff works with 75 parishes over 80,000 square kilometres. We celebrate the inauguration of the Pacific Islands Synod presbytery. We learn how Presbyterian Youth Ministry and Kids Friendly are offering mentoring tools and opportunities. We hear about a new community who are part of the Wakatipu Community Presbyterian Church. We take our first look at the new look General Assembly. We announce the winner of the PSDS Ministry and Mission Innovation Award. We profile CWM mission trainees. Plus more stories from throughout our Church.
