50th anniversary service to mark Presbyterian Church receiving into fellowship members of the Congregational Union

During Assembly in Dunedin in 1969 the report of the Special Committee on Consultation with the Congregational Union was received. The recommendations that were passed saw most ministers and congregations of the Congregational Union received into the Presbyterian Church. This changed both denominations.

On Sunday 3 November, there is a commemoration service to mark 50th anniversary of just under 7,000 Congregational Union ministers and members being welcomed into fellowship in the Presbyterian Church.

Date: Sunday, 3 November
When: 4pm
Where: Newton Pacific Island Presbyterian Church, Auckland

The combined commemoration service will be lead by Rev Tale Hakeagaiki of the Congregational Union, and Church Moderator, the Rt Rev Fakaofo Kaio. All are welcome to attend.

Rt Rev Fakaofo Kaio has warmly encouraged congregations to mark the event in their own parishes. Read the invitation

Fakaofo has also written a narrative sharing some of the history of the decision to bring the two churches together. Read or download the narrative
