An exciting new position has been created by the Waiau Valley Presbyterian church as a community/rural chaplain in the heart of Western Southland. The position will have a significant outward focus on growing the church through evangelism by connecting the church with wider community groups, youth work and through a pastoral approach into the community.
The position will be based in the town of Tuatapere on the edge of Fiordland National Park and would suit someone who enjoys the outdoors, can relate with rural communities and enjoys rural living. Tuatapere is a friendly small town with various amenities and sports clubs including schooling for families at both primary and high school levels. Invercargill is located about one hours drive from Tuatapere.
The salary package will be commensurate with qualifications and experience (A teachers qualification is not essential but may be beneficial for potential outreach opportunities available at the local schools). The role comes with a modern well maintained 4 bedroom home as part of the salary package.
Applications are not restricted to ordained ministers or members of the Presbyterian church and open to interested people from different church denominations and backgrounds. If you feel God is leading you to reach out in this way with vision and enthusiasm we would be keen to hear from you.
