Presbyterian Women invites expressions of interest from those wishing to be a self-funded member of the 2019 Presbyterian Women of Aotearoa NZ Delegation to the United Nations.
Presbyterian Women has special consultative status with the United Nations body responsible for initiatives for the advancement of women. As a member of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), Presbyterian Women has a responsibility to be represented to evaluate progress, set standards and formulate policies to promote gender equality and the advancement of women worldwide.
CSW63 (2019) the sixty third session of the Commission on the Status of Women will take place at the United Nations Headquarters in New York in early-mid March 2019. Representatives of member states, UN entities, and ECOSOC-accredited non-governmental organisations (NGOs) from all regions of the world will attend the session.
- Priority theme: Social protection systems, access to public services and sustainable infrastructure for gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls;
- Review theme: Women’s empowerment and the link to sustainable Development (agreed conclusions of the sixtieth session).
