Go to the UN with Presbyterian Women in 2020
Presbyterian Women invites expressions of interest from those wishing to be a self-funded member of the 2020 Presbyterian Women of Aotearoa NZ Delegation to the United Nations.
Presbyterian Women has special consultative status with the United Nations body responsible for initiatives for the advancement of women. As a member of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), Presbyterian Women has a responsibility to be represented to evaluate progress, set standards and formulate policies to promote gender equality and the advancement of women worldwide.
CSW64 (2020), the 64th session of the Commission on the Status of Women, will take place at the United Nations Headquarters in New York in early-mid March 2020. Representatives of member states, UN entities, and ECOSOC-accredited non-governmental organisations (NGOs) from all regions of the world will attend the session.
The main focus of the session will be on the review and appraisal of the implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action and the outcomes of the 23rd special session of the General Assembly. The review will include an assessment of current challenges that affect the implementation of the Platform for Action and the achievement of gender equality and the empowerment of women and its contribution towards the full realization of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
