Item Description : This file contains correspondence and newspaper cuttings relating to the martyred Canadian Missionary Rev. James D. Gordon of Erromanga, New Hebrides, and his blood-stained "Acts of the Apostles" which was in the possession of the NZ Missions Committee up until 1942.

Documents include: two newspaper cuttings written by "Philemon" (Rev. DN MacDiarmid?) which include references to Rev. JD Gordon and how he using the book for translation work when he was murdered, the book being stained with his blood (1936); copy of letter from Mrs I Riddle (nee Milne) explaining the provenance of the book (1942); copy of Mission Committee minute considering request of the Synod of the Maritime Provinces of Canada for the book to be placed in their care.  No action was taken at this time (23/6/1942)

NB - Some correspondence concerning this book is missing and it can only be assumed that the book was sent to Canada.
