The 3D of Lent: Discipline, Die, Disciple

“I will live again, and you will too” says the Lord Jesus. John 19John 14:19

The Lent season is the period between the Christmas-Epiphany season and the Easter season.

Our lectionary booklet describes it as, “The season of preparation and discipline, which begins on Ash Wednesday and concludes at sun-down on Holy Saturday. During the 40 weekdays and six Sundays in Lent, the church remembers the sacrificial life and ministry of Jesus leading to the cross and renews its commitment to costly Christian discipleship”.

Discipline for Jesus: The Christian life is a disciplined and an orderly life. It is not wishy-washy, or flaky and all over the place. Indiscipline for the Lord - you are an example, promote honour, and show Christ being first and foremost in all of life.

Die for Jesus: The Christian life is exemplified in the life of Jesus Christ. In accepting and believing in Jesus, you die to self and live in him. In Christ, you are a new person, born anew, the old is gone and a new person steps up.

Disciple for Jesus: The Christian life is portrayed as a life of a disciple and a follower of Christ. You do your best, give your all, and live a humble and committed life.

Your life becomes an offering, a living sacrifice for Christ.

Blessed Lent season
