Key mission partnerships
Why, where & how of Global Mission
Our Church has key partnerships the Presbyterian Churches of Vanuatu and Myanmar, and the Church of North India. We also have important relationships with networks of churches across Asia and the Pacific, and international bodies like the Council for World Mission.
Through these partnerships we respond to the call of Jesus Christ to make disciples of all nations and help to provide much-needed resources for Christian mission overseas. This also enriches the life of our Church through our mutual sharing and growing together in the worldwide body of Christ. The various links on this site will provide you with information about the current status of our Church's Global Mission efforts, and give you an insight into new trends and future possibilities.
Individuals and congregations within the Presbyterian Church are invited to enquire about how to participate in and support our work, by contacting the Global Mission Director, Phil King
Christian World Service is the PCANZ’s humanitarian aid and development partner. Global Mission encourages support for the CWS emergency appeal for Pakistan in response to the devastating floods that have occurred there. We encourage donations to be sent directly to CWS. Information about the appeal, how your donation will help and how to donate can be found here.
Talua Theological Training Institute (TTTI) is the main ministry training college of the Presbyterian Church of Vanuatu. TTTI trains students for pastoral ministry in many of the protestant denominations in Vanuatu. The purpose of TTTI is to train and prepare the next generation of Church leaders in Vanuatu.
TTTI is looking for an English teacher with the following minimum requirements:
- Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (CELTA) or an equivalent internationally recognised TESOL qualification
- Degree or higher qualification that includes teaching English (preferably with experience in teaching English as a second/foreign language).
The position does not come with a salary but accommodation is provided and travel costs and living expenses will be covered. Suitably qualified personnel are invited to view the job description here and contact Global Mission Director Phil King for further information, firstname.lastname@example.org
Start planning how you can take time in your Sunday service to remember Refugees.
June 20 is World Refugee day so we encourage churches to choose a Sunday near this date for this purpose. Some good resources can be found on these sites:
- Christian World Service: Operation Refugee: Pray / Walk / Eat
Resources for worship, learning and fundraising.
- Faithward (Reformed Church in America)
These sites contain stories, resources, scriptures and songs that can be used in worship as well as practical projects and ways to both support and become involved with Refugee families and communities.
If you would like to take an offering or fundraise we have 3 suggestions:
- Myanmar: We have reliable contacts to support Chin refugees in Mizoram India.
Raise $30 for one bag of rice through to $1300 to feed one refugee camp for the week.
(Contact us at the Global Mission office for details of how to send funds).
- CWS Operation Refugee: for refugees in Ukraine, Afghanistan and the middle East.
- Support and build relationship with a refugee family in your own community.
We would love to hear stories of what you do.

Urgent request: Impact of COVID effecting student fees, food shortages and staff salaries
The PCANZ has a long history with Talua in so many ways. For many years we have provided an English teacher to live on site and many work parties have contributed to a wide variety of projects.
Last week we received a heartfelt request form the current principal, Pastor Christopher Iawak. Here is an excerpt from his letter
I am writing to you on behalf of the TTTI Board and Staff Council regarding the financial impacts on the Institute due to the COVID-19 restrictions. On Wednesday 9th of March, 2022, all of Vanuatu was placed under strict lockdowns and curfews due to community transmission on Efate and Santo islands. TTTI has been able to continue Term 1 through correspondence, with all our students still living on campus.
Within the TTTI community, there has been no community transmission thus far. We praise God for this. But the impacts are being felt strongly. Financially, many students and their families / sponsors have been unable to continue to pay school fees (for some students and their families, their whole income stream has ceased). Consequently, the Institute is under significant financial pressure. Some staff salaries were not able to be paid last week.
We are very thankful for your ongoing prayers and support for TTTI, especially at this very difficult time. We know many of you are praying for us, and for Vanuatu as a whole. We are also thankful for the staff and financial resources many of you have already contributed, and continue to contribute. At this time of crisis, we want to humbly ask you to consider whether more financial support could be offered to TTTI. This could take the form of a crisis payment to help with running costs, or it could be in the form of sponsorship money for student. We continue to explore internal channels of help as well. Most importantly, please continue to pray for us and our nation. We take great comfort in God’s presence with us, the promise of hope and healing in the gospel, and the partnership we have in his
We would love to be able to provide some assistance at this time. If individuals or churches wish to contribute, please donate online to the Global Mission account 02 0500 0086963 10. (with Talua Support in the reference) and also let Katrina Graham , know you have made a donation so you can receive a receipt.
