Election 2026 Resource from Interchurch Bioethics Council

ICBC Election 2026 Resource

The Interchurch Bioethics Council has prepared seven information sheets on issues that are likely to come up this 2026 election. The intention is to help people in our pews think ethically about the issues as they consider who to vote for in November.

The information sheets

  • Are politically non-partisan

  • Put forward facts

  • Suggest questions that people might put to candidates in their electorate.

They are written primarily through a Pākehā lens -- which reflects the membership of the current Council.

Download the information sheets here on the ICBC website.

  • The seven issues are:
    Energy security
    Food security
    Healthcare
    End of life care
    Climate adaptation
    Artificial intelligence

About ICBC

The Interchurch Bioethics Council (formerly the Interchurch Commission on Genetic Engineering) was set up in 2000 by the Presbyterian, Anglican and Methodist churches. Several Presbyterians are members of the Council, which considers biotechnology from a spiritual, ethical and cultural point of view. See more on the PCANZ website here.
