PresCare: Praying for Children Week

Praying for Children | Karakia Mo ngā Tamariki

PresCare, a partnership between Presbyterian Support and the PCANZ, invites you to join in Praying for Children Week 2023, where we reflect on and hold children before God in prayer.

The suggested timing is the week of August 20-26 2023.

Theme

This year’s Praying for Children theme is Growing our Children, drawing on the images of gardens and growth to reflect on and pray for children’s life in our midst, in celebration, in lament, in hopefulness and in gratitude. PresCare hope that you and your congregation will join with us in Praying for Children this year.

Resources for parishes

PresCare has produced resources for Praying for Children Week including:

  • Outline of a service along with a daily prayer, image and Scripture verse.
  • Bookmarks in a number of languages which can be downloaded and printed.
  • All the resources can be downloaded here.
  • Watch a promo video featuring Rev Sharon Ross Ensor on the PCANZ Facebook page here.

Blog

All of the resources for Praying for Children week can be found on the blog.

The week begins on Sunday August 20 and you can find resources for a full worship service focusing on the theme on the blog.  Each day during the week that follows there will be a new post with the theme for the day, accompanied by an image and a prayer.

Bookmarks

The bookmark lists the theme for each day during Praying for Children Week. The QR code on the bookmark will take you to the blog. The bookmarks are available in English, te reo Māori, Samoan and Korean. We hope you can distribute these bookmarks to your congregation to take home and make use of during the week.

A number of congregations will have received hard copies of the bookmark in the post but PresCare also have additional bookmarks which can be posted on request - email Rev Sharon Ross Ensor.

PresCare Team

These resources have been created by a team comprising Anne Overton, Melanie Te Au and Rev Sharon Ross Ensor (Presbyterian Support Northern) and Karo Wilson (Presbyterian Children and Families Ministry). They are very grateful to Presbyterian Development Society for a generous grant which has made production of these resources possible.

Share your Feedback

PresCare would love to hear how you have made use of these resources or to hear any feedback you might have to help continue to develop and improve them. Contact Anne Overton or  Rev Sharon Ross Ensor
