Applications close 29 February for PSDS $10,000 Ministry and Mission Innovation Award
PSDS are seeking applications for the second of four annual Ministry and Mission Innovation Awards for an innovative ministry and/or mission initiative. Your idea needs to be:
Innovative (applies a new idea to a particular issue or need)
Demonstrating leadership and the involvement of others
Expressive of the mission of the Church
A completely separate initiative - not part of an existing or previous programme
Project based
Applications sought for CWM Pacific Region Regional Secretary
A suitable person is sought for the Auckland-based position of CWM Pacific Region Regional Secretary. This role will support and facilitate the individual and shared mission activities of the nine churches in the CWM Pacific region.
Have your say for vulnerable children and youth
The Government’s Green Paper for Vulnerable Children sets out ideas on how to improve the lives of vulnerable children. Your feedback and submissions are requested. You and your parish can get involved, and tell your community about this opportunity through your outreach programmes. Every idea counts, no matter how big or small. White Ribbon Day 25 November 2011
White Ribbon Day, 25 November, is the international day when people wear a white ribbon to show that they do not condone violence towards women. In this country an average of 14 women a year are killed by their partners or ex-partners. Each year there are over 3,500 convictions against men for assaults on women.
Church leaders call for shared responsibility toward a fair society
Church leaders, including Moderator the Right Rev Peter Cheyne, are calling on all political parties to acknowledge their shared responsibility to provide a just share of society’s wealth and resources for all its citizens, especially the most vulnerable.

Presbyterian Church calls for NZ Govt to give Tuvaluans water…and NZ citizenship
The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Murray McCully, is to be commended for the prompt action taken in coming to the aid of the tiny island nation Tuvalu, says the Right Rev Peter Cheyne, Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Aotearoa New Zealand.
On Monday, the New Zealand Government sent two desalination plants, emergency water containers and officials to Tuvalu, after a state of emergency was declared last week due to an extreme shortage of drinking water.
