Mana Māori and Christianity book

The development of Christian faith among Māori has changed over time from the missionary endeavours of Pākehā settlers, to the development of indigenous expressions of Christian faith, to co-operative partnerships between Māori and Pākehā in the mainline churches, and to the recent emergence of the Destiny Church.

Apply to the Caughey Smith-Preston Evangelisation Fund

A small amount of funding is available from the Caughey Smith-Preston Memorial Interdenominational Evangelisation Fund for church or denominational projects: employing evangelists to hold missions in NZ large cities and towns; or employing young evangelists to go to the backblocks of NZ; or opening Sunday Schools. Requests for funding are invited, please outline in as much detail as possible:

- the aims of the project

- how long it has been in operation or will be in operation

- where it is located

- personnel involved

Enrolment is now open for the 2012 General Assembly in Rotorua, 4-7 October 2012. Enrolment packs, enrolment forms and travel reimbursement forms will be posted from 18 June to all those presbyteries have agreed will represent congregations as Commissioners or Observers.

Gospel 2014 celebrations

Let’s celebrate two hundred years of the Christian gospel in New Zealand. 25 December 2014 is the official date of the bicentenary when the Rev Samuel Marsden preached his first sermon at Oihi Bay in 1814, supported by Ruatara, Hongi Hika and Korokoro.
