Applications open for new CWM programme: “Revisioning Education with Children” - deadline 16 Feb 2026

11 Feb 2026

Applications are now open for a new Council for World Mission (CWM) programme, Revisioning Education with Children, which will be held in New Zealand and hosted by the Presbyterian Church of Aotearoa New Zealand (PCANZ).

The programme offers an opportunity for church leaders and ministry practitioners engaged in mission and ministry with children. The curriculum will explore what it means to decolonise children’s ministry, alongside hands-on skills work and curriculum development.

Emphasising the need for churches to move beyond Sunday Schools and embrace an all-of-life, intergenerational approach, CWM Mission Secretary for Education and Empowerment Rev. Dr Amelia Koh-Butler said, “Revisioning mission and ministry with young people means remembering that God personally called the child Samuel, the child Jesus, and the child who offered the loaves and fishes. Children participate in mission and ministry, and our calling is to notice and empower them.”

Open to member churches and ecumenical partners, the programme will bring together a diverse, global group of participants. As part of their learning journey, participants will spend time in a marae — a sacred Indigenous space — where they will engage with Indigenous approaches to learning and intergenerational ministry with youth. This experience will encourage and empower participants to reflect and critically examine the roles of culture and community in social and spiritual development.

To ensure a balanced cohort in terms of gender, regional representation, and skills and experience, member churches and ecumenical partners may nominate up to two candidates, one male and one female.

Nominated and selected participants must hold a valid passport with at least six months validity, expiring no earlier than 30 November 2026.
