Neighbours Day 2022

Neighbours Day Aotearoa 2022 will run from 18-27 March 2022.

Kai Connections

Is the theme for Neighbours Day 2022. A common denominator amongst all communities in Aotearoa is how kai (food) brings us together. It is about getting people to engage in all the different ways we connect over kai – growing, sharing, eating. There are many diverse ways that Neighbours Day Aotearoa will be celebrated in 2022!

Ideas for events include front yard BBQs, crop swap, sharing food or recipes, helping people in their garden, baking and sharing muffins – all ways that neighbours can connect over kai. Whether the intention is big or small, it all makes a difference, it all helps to build more connected and stronger neighbourhoods. Need some inspiration? See a few more ideas .

Moderator's 2022 Neighbours Day message

Read the Moderator's message to the Church. It includes links to resources for 2022. "Last week we opened our fridge to find some cupcakes with a note from our 4-year-old neighbour Liam, “We love you Hamish and Anne!”. We were out, our doors were unlocked, and Liam claimed ‘neighbourly fridge rights’(there have been other times when he has come in looking for chocolate!). And so, last night I harvested blackberries, apples, pears, peaches, and grapes from our garden and handed them over the fence to Liam’s mum...."
