December 2009

In the December issue of Spanz we tackle the question of retirement and whether New Zealand faces a looming superannuation crisis. We hear from people approaching retirement about their situation, and from those already retired about how they are managing. There’s a story about an innovative community project in Papakura that has seen Papakura East Presbyterian Church build bridges into a troubled community. The Elevate youth festival happens in early December and we hear about its planning and the impact it’s having on the 1700 young people who attend. The first interns under the new training model have completed their studies with the Knox Centre of Ministry and Leadership, and they talk about their experiences. And there’s an interview with Kiwi hymn writer Shirley Erena Murray, who is about to be awarded an honorary doctorate at the University of Otago.
