Invite to the IRCA Oceania Network ZOOM - 26 April

When: 26 April, 1100 NZST

Kitchen table type conversation as we introduce ourselves and share news and challenges.

We will get an update on the plan for a Face-to-Face Conference in 2025 hosted by the Methodist Church of Fiji and Rotuma.

With a proposed theme of "Listening to One another: Sharing Struggles and Joy as Rural Churches in Oceania", an invitation from IRCA Oceania to host the conference has been tabled with the Methodist Church leadership and awaits their response.

And we expect to have in the conversation someone who can tell us about a church without buildings which has been operating in West Otago, in the south of New Zealand.

Our key purpose is connecting together, breaking into the busyness to reduce the sense of isolation prevalent in rural church leadership.

International Rural Churches Association (IRCA) Oceania

A regional network within the International Rural Churches Association (IRCA), our purpose is to build connections across the south western Pacific area and bring a uniquely antipodean perspective to the IRCA family. Geographically diverse across the islands of Polynesia, Melanesia, Micronesia, Aotearoa New Zealand, together with the continent of Australia, we have much in common, with a love of the Moana (the sea) and with permanent and temporary migration between our lands. We understand one another particularly as rural churches, knowing our dependence of God's gifts of land and sea for life and livelihood, and sharing a common struggle in the face of international economic pressures that can put this livelihood at risk.
