Are you a would-be church planter?

Courageous, creative people person, who is committed to Jesus, wanted!

Are you interested in a year of hands-on learning to creatively explore the challenge of church planting in today’s secular society? Are you prepared to receive training, mentoring, practical experience and support? Are you full of passion and enthusiasm and are you prepared to trial innovative ways to connect with non-Christians in a parish environment.

After a year’s mentoring, would you be prepared to commit yourself to at least five years of “on the edge” ministry in a new church planting situation?

Are you a person who likes to be challenged, have their faith stretched and believes God longs for growth in the Church?

We invite you to apply for this fully funded position, to be mentored by the Rev Jim Wallace, and join the team at Bethlehem Community Church, Tauranga for one year - before moving out into your own pioneering church planting situation.

Prior theological training with the Presbyterian Church of Aotearoa New Zealand is necessary.

A full project outline is available from Rev Jim Wallace.

I have received expressions of interest from overseas ministers wanting to either exchange charges with Presbyterian ministers or serve in Presbyterian parishes. I have provided a brief outline of the opportunities available. Please contact me for further information at

New opportunities:

Presbyterian Church in Canada

A Presbyterian minister from a multicultural parish near Vancouver seeks an exchange. The parish has about 130 members (about 90 on any Sunday) and represents British Canadian, Filipino and African heritage. The church worship is a mix of traditional and contemporary style. The current minister has been with the church for a little over five years has focused on the Gospel of Luke for the last three years. Parishioners hold a high view of Scripture and would like to be more mission-minded.

Opportunities in Canada:

United Church of Canada – Nova Scotia

The minister would be accompanied by his wife and seeks an urban or suburban setting.
