The latest issue of Spanz magazine is now online. Our Spring edition looks at how our annual national youth leaders’ conference, Connect, attracted the largest number of young people in its 11 year history.
Applications are invited for the position of Director of the Presbyterian Church Schools Office. Please direct enquiries, including requests for the job description, to the Principal of the Knox Centre for Ministry and Leadership, Graham Redding. The successful applicant will be theologically trained, have a background in education, and be familiar with the Presbyterian and Presbyterian Church School contexts. Applications close 30 September 2012.
If you're not attending GA12 you can sign up with your email address to receive an email every evening of GA12, which starts on Thursday 4 October and concludes on Sunday 7 October. This email will summarise decisions and events, as well as providing links to fuller information.
The NZ Branch of the Interim Ministry Network (US) is facilitating a training event for Transitional Ministry at Trinity Church, Dunsandel, Canterbury Plains, from 10 – 14 September 2012. Trainers will be the Rev Chris Bedford, the Rev Derek Harding and the Rev Marilyn Welch.
A small amount of funding is available from the Caughey Smith-Preston Memorial Interdenominational Evangelisation Fund for church or denominational projects: employing evangelists to hold missions in NZ large cities and towns; or employing young evangelists to go to the backblocks of NZ; or opening Sunday Schools. Requests for funding are invited, please outline in as much detail as possible:
- the aims of the project
- how long it has been in operation or will be in operation
- where it is located
- personnel involved
PresCare are holding an Art and Writing Competition, on the theme of “Love Reaches Out”, for children from preschool to Year 8 who are connected in any way to Kids Friendly, Presbyterian Schools, or Family Works. Kids can let loose and get creative about how love impacts them and how they can love others. There are 20 $50 prizes and the winning 20 entries will be available for use in our churches, Family Works sites and Presbyterian Schools. Entries open from 16 July to 15 August. Entry forms here.
Enrolment is now open for the 2012 General Assembly in Rotorua, 4-7 October 2012. Enrolment packs, enrolment forms and travel reimbursement forms will be posted from 18 June to all those presbyteries have agreed will represent congregations as Commissioners or Observers.
